We are pleased to be the first Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to offer the Pixel8-RF Microneedling system in San Antonio, Texas. The system combines the effects of minimally invasive microneedling with the power of Radio Frequency energy to build collagen. Are you bothered by problems like wrinkles, fine lines, sagging or crepey skin? If so, this may be the solution for you.
Microneedling is a procedure that uses very fine, sterile needles. These needles penetrate the skin at different depths causing little micro-wounds. When the skin works to heal the wounds, new collagen is stimulated. By adding Radio Frequency (RF) Energy the microneedling effect is turbocharged so that more collagen and elastin are made. Many medspas and non-plastic surgeons offer microneedling, but this alone does not have the ability to have as dramatic a result as when RF is added.
Generally speaking, RF microneedling can be used for the same problems that microneedling is used to treat, including:
- Skin tightening
- Jowl lifting
- Collagen buildup
- Wrinkle reduction
- Acne scar improvement
- Skin tone and texture
- Pore reduction
- Scar reduction
- Double chin reduction
- Eyebrow lifting
- Bags under the eyes
- Neck lifting
- Hand rejuvenation
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating)
RF Microneedling is a non-surgical procedure that requires little to no downtime. The treated area may be red for a few hours to a couple of days. There are no limitations to working out after. However, your recovery time may be longer depending on the extent and depth of your treatment.
Treatment costs vary based on the areas being treated and the number of treatments needed. Generally speaking, a single treatment of the face is $750.
Is Pixel8-RF Microneedling better than Microneedling?
Think of it this way – you can have a 4 cylinder engine or an 8 cylinder supercharged engine in your car. The 4 cylinders will get you there, but the 8 cylinders will get you there faster. Microneedling makes some collagen, but RF microneedling makes much more collagen. Microneedling does not make a lot of reaction after treatment, but since the RF microneedling is more aggressive, there is a little bit of inflammation after treatment for about a day. The next day, this can be covered with makeup. The RF Microneedling is much better at creating collagen and elastin than microneedling alone.
Is Pixel8-RF Skin tightening painful?
The needles themselves are very small and not painful, but when the energy is added, there is some pain from the heat generated. We control this pain by applying a pain cream before, as well as numbing with chilled air. The combination makes the RF microneedling treatment very tolerable.
